200% Growth YoY

As a co-founder and head of product and design at Markit AI, I have had the privilege to learn at speed, growing the company from 8k total users to over 100k MAU through cohesive end-to-end user focused product design, building relationships customers, and product marketing.

I was instrumental in transformation of the product from when I first came on, going through a hard pivot from an event ticketing company to a creator texting platform. I am deeply proud of what I’ve built at Markit, working long nights and weekends to bring the company towards profitability through a user focused design based approach.

My work at Markit in metrics

  • Raised > $1.8 million in funding, with contributing groups such as Techstars, Steve Kaufer (co-founder/former CEO of TripAdvisor), Greg Raiz (CEO Raiz Capital), David Parker (CEO EforAll), and Tufts University among others.

  • Grew mobile/desktop products from 8k total users to 100k MAU, with hundreds of paying creators and numerous enterprise customers.

  • Over 1 million texts sent by creators, a direct product of features I owned end-to-end like text message drafting, automated campaigns, import csv flows, integrations, creator membership tiers, and more.

  • Increased user retention from <4% to 28.48% over 30 days, with personalized onboarding flows and high-touch customer support.

  • Grew gross revenue to $2.58 million after implementing Markit+ subscriptions, integrating Stripe for ticketing, and setting up paid credit system for texting working directly with Twilio representatives.

In a time where the tools are democratized, community building and personal connection with customers is more essential than ever. Building Markit AI from the ground up has taught me that above all else, the user and customer is the most important part of design at every level. Behind the product are the many systems I have personally implemented at to continually engage and collect feedback from our creators:

  • Post-onboarding checklist/notification engagement

  • Weekly updates texts documenting changelog and insights

  • Bi-weekly collaborative creator webinars

  • Creator referral program

  • Direct personal reach out for enterprise clients

The user is always said to be the center of design but in reality, most designers/engineers rarely (if ever) truly interact with customers. Collecting data on clicks and user flows is important, but it is a two dimensional solution to a human problem. At Markit, the systems I put in place guarantee a professional relationship is built with every paying customer where they know they can reach out at any time and have their issue addressed. As more VC firms invest in the future, they look to companies who understand this concept of community and relationships building around a product; taking design a step beyond numbers.
